Filming Opportunities in Timmins, Ontario, Canada
Storytelling is a tradition as old as mankind. From the times when our ancestors regaled each other around the fire with ancient myth, to our modern love affair with film and TV.
Finding the perfect location is crucial, because it sets the tone and context for your story. Timmins is a film-friendly community and our team here at the TEDC is ready to assist in any way.
Timmins’ geography and topography is varied enough that it can substitute for numerous more expensive locations throughout Canada and the world, including the Canadian territories, Alaska, northern Europe and Russia.
Cold weather shooting is applauded in Timmins. Winters are a consistent element and part of the regional appeal. You can count on winter scenery from November to April where the average snowfall is forty centimeters monthly. The diverse climate, pristine Boreal forest wilderness and rural setting boasts over 500 lakes and streams all within the city limits.
You can leverage the TEDC’s extensive network of industry partnerships for access to sites such as past and present mining operations and forestry facilities, all within the city limits.
The city-owned Victor M. Power Airport is a ten-minute drive from the city centre. One of the largest airports in Northern Ontario it is conveniently less than two hours flight form Person Airport or Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto. That makes Timmins an excellent jumping off point for film productions further north or in the surrounding regions.

Timmins is home to a broad mix of English, French and Indigenous people and a burgeoning immigrant community. Our high rate of bilingualism allows us to accommodate both domestic and foreign films.
