Discover how Timmins’ economy is evolving — from infrastructure investment to business support and community development, Economic Insights tracks the progress shaping our city’s future.
The City of Timmins Economic Insights report is a quarterly publication designed to provide residents, investors, and business leaders with a clear picture of local economic activity.
Economic Insights brings together key updates, data, and stories highlighting how the City is advancing economic growth and community development. Each edition provides a cumulative snapshot of work completed from the start of the year to the end of the quarter — from infrastructure investments and business support initiatives to workforce development, community planning, and investment attraction efforts. The report outlines how the City is preparing for growth, strengthening local capacity, and monitoring changes across the community that influence the city’s economic landscape.
This edition, representing the first to the third quarter in 2025, highlights over $53 million in building permits across all classifications, over $71.5 million invested in infrastructure, 55 businesses started through The Business Enterprise Centre, and more than 25 thousand overnight stays resulting from Tourism activities. The City is committed to building a more resilient community, and reports decreased electricity and natural gas consumption, energy use intensity, and improvements across other sustainability metrics.
